Q: How does the contest work?
A: We host the Dream Quest One Poetry and Writing Contest to inspire and encourage new and experienced literary artists to submit their short stories and poetry to be recognized worldwide. We welcome you to share your hopes, aspirations, and dreams of being published and to continue being successful poets and writers. Creativity, imagination, innovation, and the ability to dream are an inspiration to others, even if you have no experience in poetry or writing. This contest is held semi-annually.
Q: What prizes can I win?
A: There are three poetry prizes and three writing prizes totaling $1275.00. You can win up to $250.00 for writing a poem and win up to $500.00 for writing a short story.

Q: Are previously published poems and short stories allowed to enter the poetry and writing contests?
A: Yes, you may enter previously published poems and short stories which are welcome, as long as they are original works created by the contest entrant(s).
Q: May I submit more than one poem and/or short story to enter this competition?
A: Yes, multiple and simultaneous entries are accepted in both the Poetry Contest and the Writing Contest.
Q: Does the “title” of my poem and/or short story count as a line?
A: No, the titles for all poems and/or short stories do not count as lines.
Q: Is there a ‘word count’ for short stories entered in this competition?
A: There is a ‘NO WORD COUNT’ for short stories entered in this competition. However, all stories must be neatly hand-printed or legibly typed out, using 5 pages or fewer, on any subject, theme, or topic.
Q: What subject, theme, topic, or genres do you accept in this competition?
A: All poems may be written on any subject, theme, topic, style, or form.
All short stories may be on any subject, theme, topic, or genre including fiction, nonfiction, creative nonfiction, essays, blogs, diaries, journal entries, short stage plays, and short screenplays.
Q: May I submit an edited revision of my poem or short story?
Yes, you may edit and submit a revised copy of your poem(s) and/or short story(ies) before the postmarked deadline for each contest.
Q: How do I enter the contest by mail?
A: Send original poems, 30 lines or fewer, on any subject or theme, in any style, or form, neatly hand printed or typed, using single or double line spacing. Submit short stories, (5) pages maximum length, on any subject, any theme, fiction, nonfiction, or creative nonfiction, neatly hand printed or typed, using single or double line spacing. The entry fee is $5.00(USD) per poem. The entry fee is $10.00(USD) per short story. Mail your entry fee(s) check(s)/money order(s) payable to: “DREAMQUESTONE.COM,” and mail your poem(s)/short story(ies) to the following address:
